Interior Approves Vast Expansion of Wyoming Antelope Coal Mine

The Trump administration approved an expansion to the nation’s third-biggest coal mine, opening up 14.5 million more tons of federally-owned coal across about 850 acres, the Interior Department said Friday.

The decision extends the life of the Antelope Mine, operated by Navajo Transitional Energy Company, through 2037. The mine, located in northeastern Wyoming, ships coal to power plants across the country.
