Hawaii Residents Awarded $600,000 for Navy Fuel Leak Into Water

Hawaii residents who sued the federal government over exposure to drinking water contaminated by jet fuel from a nearby US Navy base were collectively awarded nearly $600,000.

Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi of the US District Court for the District of Hawaii entered final judgment in favor of 17 plaintiffs Tuesday over injuries stemming from water tainted by a 2021 leak at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on the island of Oahu.
