FERC’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline Authorization Upheld on Appeal (1)

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission defeated an environmental challenge to its approval for a natural gas pipeline in Tennessee on Tuesday at the DC Circuit.

FERC’s approval is “consistent” with the National Environmental Policy Act and the Natural Gas Act, a panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said.

The Sierra Club and Appalachian Voices in September 2024 challenged the commission’s approvals for a 32-mile gas pipeline running through Tennessee.
