Companies making and importing 16 widely used chemicals must submit certain unpublished health and safety studies to the EPA under a proposed rule the agency announced on Monday.
The 16 chemicals listed in the data collection rule (RIN 2070-AL15) include benzene, bisphenol A, vinyl chloride, and styrene. The Environmental Protection Agency already announced it’s looking at five of these chemicals for possible risk evaluation, and it agreed to look into a sixth chemical generated as tires break down during use at the request of tribes concerned about harm to fish.
