The Environmental Protection Agency must hand down a final decision on a Southern California ozone pollution mitigation plan by the end of July as part of a settlement with an environmental group.
A consent decree between the agency and the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice was approved Monday by Judge Edward M. Chen of the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The EPA agreed to review California’s Heavy Duty Inspection and Maintenance Regulation, which targets diesel truck emissions in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties.
