Charleston Development in ‘Vulnerable’ Flood Zone, Groups Say

Conservation groups asked a federal appeals court to halt construction on an “environmentally-pristine” 100-year floodplain in Charleston, arguing the development would permanently damage the ecoystem while litigation continues.

A lower court wrongly upheld a flawed environmental review by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the groups said in a brief filed in the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit Wednesday.
