A new California regulation phasing out diesel trucks is government overreach, the California Trucking Association said in a lawsuit, weeks before the rule was set to go into effect.
Congress has preempted states from setting emissions standards for vehicles unless specific requirements for a state waiver have been met, but the US Environmental Protection Agency hasn’t granted a waiver for the California Air Resources Board to enforce a regulation like the “Advanced Clean Fleet” standard, the suit says.
