California Moves to Transition Trucks From Diesel to Electric

California adopted major standards Friday to create a zero-emission fleet and phase out all new diesel trucks entirely by 2036.

The first-ever rules set ambitious targets for fleets of heavy and medium-duty trucks in the state, with goals to transform existing vehicles to zero-pollution technology by 2042.

The California Air Resources Board met for meetings and public comment on the Advanced Clean Fleet standard on Thursday and voted unanimously on Friday to pass the rule.
