Former businessman Gordon Hartogensis is now officially in charge of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

A May 16 press release from the federal pension insurer describes the brother-in-law of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY.) as “an entrepreneur, investor, and technology sector leader with experience in finance, asset management and software development.” He most recently ran a family trust.

Senate Democrats repeatedly questioned the wisdom of rotating leaders at the struggling agency, which could be insolvent by 2025 , but Hartogensis ultimately secured a five-year term on April 30.
