Worker Civil Rights Agency Faces 6% Funding Drop in Trump Budget

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission would face a 6 percent drop in funding in fiscal year 2020 under President Donald Trump’s budget proposal, according to a document published by the White House March 18.

The EEOC would get $355.8 million under the president’s budget blueprint. It received $379.5 million in funding for FY 2019, after Trump initially requested $363.8 million. The agency received the same sum in FY 2018.

The EEOC, which enforces federal anti-discrimination law in employment, expects to maintain “a manageable inventory of cases” while “litigating systemic cases,” according to the budget document.
