Equal Employment Agency Sees Flat Budget Request

President Donald Trump slightly reduced funding for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in his FY 2019 budget request Feb. 12, which continues the recent trend of flat funding for the agency.

The commission would get $363.8 million in 2019, a slight drop from its enacted spending of $364.5 million for fiscal 2017, the last year that figures for full funding of the government are available. The agency, which enforces federal employment discrimination laws, has been operating under relatively flat budgets since FY 2015, which has worker advocates concerned that agency employees are spread too thin.
