Volkswagen Union Vote Begins Five Years After UAW Loss

More than 1,700 Volkswagen workers are getting their chance to decide whether to bring the United Auto Workers to the automaker’s Chattanooga, Tenn., facility.

Polls opened at 4:45 a.m. on June 12 and will be open intermittently until the evening of June 14.

Tens of thousands of dollars in ad buys, dozens of pages of legal documents, and plenty of impassioned conversations have all led to this: a three-day election that will serve as a quasi-referendum on organized labor in the South.
