U.S. Steel Workers Hint at Strike Despite Raise Offer (1)

Union negotiators rejected U.S. Steel Corp.'s eighth contract proposal and indicated it wants to wrap up months of negotiations soon.

Bargaining has been “a frustrating series of negotiations” and “time is running out,” the United Steelworkers said in a Sept. 18 update to members.

About 16,000 U.S. Steel employees have been working under a contract that expired Sept. 1 but has been extended on a rolling basis. Workers authorized a strike early this month.
