UAW Chief Slams Stellantis Buyouts as Workers Vote on Deal (1)

United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain sharply criticized planned Stellantis N.V. job cuts, saying the union’s tentative agreement for higher wages played no role.

“Shame on Stellantis because they didn’t have to lay anybody off,” Fain told reporters on Tuesday following a Senate hearing. “It’s short-sighted profits, short-sighted goals, and in the long run it does nothing for the company, and shame on the company for choosing to do that. It has nothing to do with our contract.”
