Trump Labor Board Lawyers Return for NLRB Transition Team (1)

The top two National Labor Relations Board lawyers who served during the first Trump administration—and then were fired when it ended—are reviewing the agency in preparation for President-elect Donald Trump’s second term.

Former General Counsel Peter Robb and Alice Stock, his former deputy, make up the Trump transition team for the NLRB, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.

Robb and Stock—both of whom practice at Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC—were each sacked by President Joe Biden shortly after he was inaugurated four years ago. Robb’s unprecedented termination drew several legal challenges, but was upheld by multiple federal appeals courts.

The pair are now responsible for gathering information to assist the incoming Trump administration on appointment and budgetary decisions for the agency.

Trump will have two open board seats to fill with Republican appointees. One seat has been unoccupied since John Ring’s term expired in 2022, while the other opened up in December when the Senate rejected former NLRB chair Lauren McFerran’s nomination to a third term.

Trump will also have the chance to appoint a new general counsel if he fires GC Jennifer Abruzzo, as is widely expected.

Abruzzo served on a 25-person labor transition team for the then-incoming Biden administration before she was tapped to be the NLRB’s top lawyer. Stock’s participation on the NLRB transition team raises the possibility for history to repeat itself after Trump takes office.

Robb and Stock didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

NLRB spokesperson Kayla Blado declined to comment.
