Translation Companies, Workers Get Final Nod for Wage Suit Deal

Two translation companies and interpreters who say the businesses stiffed them on pay and skipped breaks secured final approval from a federal judge for a settlement worth more than $3.7 million.

The deal provides more than 24% of the estimated maximum recovery at trial, a “reasonable compromise” given the risks of continued litigation, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday. The final settlement approval wraps up the claims of more than 4,500 people who worked for On Line Interpreters Inc. and Language Line Services Inc.
