Trader Joe’s Settles Black Ex-Manager’s Retaliation Lawsuit

Trader Joe’s Co. and a Black former manager settled his lawsuit that claimed he was fired for filing a race discrimination lawsuit that received local media attention.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed the case Tuesday after the grocery store chain and James Jarmon reported the matter had settled, according to an order entered on Wednesday. A jury trial was scheduled to begin in September after Judge John Milton Younge partly denied Trader Joe’s motion for summary judgment in March.
