Student Athlete Pay Bill Set for Floor Vote in the House (1)

House Republican leaders plan to tee up a floor vote next week on a bill to codify rules for paying collegiate athletes and add to the NCAA‘s antitrust protections, according to a leadership aide.

The SCORE Act (H.R. 4312) would govern college players’ ability to profit off of their name, image, and likeness, prohibiting the NCAA and schools from restricting their ability to enter into deals. This comes in exchange for limited antitrust liability protection for the NCAA and codifying athletes as non-employees of their school or any intercollegiate athletic association.
