State AGs Reiterate Call to Block Nursing Home Staffing Rule

Twenty state attorneys general asked a federal judge Wednesday to disregard Justice Department objections and issue a nationwide preliminary injunction that would block an HHS rule requiring most nursing homes to beef up their direct-care staffing levels.

The reply memorandum in support of the motion for preliminary injunction was filed in US District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. It responds to a Justice Department memorandum filed Nov. 21 that opposed the plaintiffs’ motion for the injunction.
