SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc. lost its bid for summary judgment on most of the claims brought by its former vice president, who alleges she was discriminated and retaliated against based on her sex.
The US District Court for the Southern District of New York denied SMBC’s motion for summary judgment on seven out of Haido Irene Hatzimihalis’s 10 causes of action against the global financial services company.
Hatzimihalis alleged in her complaint that SMBC paid her less, provided her fewer opportunities than men junior to her, and cut her bonus pay by $200,000 when she complained.
