SMBC Paid Female Vice President Less Than Male Workers: Lawsuit

A female vice president at SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc. said the global financial services company paid her less and gave her fewer opportunities than men junior to her, and then cut her bonus pay by $200,000 when she complained, according to a federal lawsuit filed in New York.

Haido Irene Hatzimihalis, a vice president of debt capital markets at SMBC, is suing the company in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York under city, state, and federal laws for allegedly giving her male peers better opportunities and not remedying pay disparities after she complained.
