The Senate Appropriations Committee Sept. 26 approved a bill that would increase funding for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, among several other federal agencies, again rejecting a White House proposal to trim spending for a labor and employment agency.
The bill (number not yet available) would reject the 6% cut to the EEOC that the White House proposed for fiscal year 2020. It would instead provide $384.5 million in discretionary funding for the worker protection agency—around $5 million more than fiscal year 2019 and nearly $30 million more than the White House’s proposal.
