Senate Confirms Biden Pick to Lead Bureau of Labor Statistics

The Senate confirmed Erika L. McEntarfer to lead the US Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the federal government’s principal agency measuring inflation and labor market indicators.

McEntarfer cleared the chamber on an 86-8 vote following unanimous approval from the Senate’s labor panel in October. She had been serving as a labor economist in the Center for Economic Studies at the US Census Bureau and was nominated by President Joe Biden for the role in July.
