Salvation Army Settles Disability Discrimination Suit With EEOC

The Salvation Army agreed to shell out $25,000 and provide workers with mandatory training on accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act to resolve claims that it discriminated against a worker with special needs, according to court papers.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the charity for allegedly violating the ADA by firing Gregory Mark, a worker with multiple disabilities, including Asperger’s Syndrome and bipolar disorder, from a cashier position at an Ann Arbor, Mich., store.
