Safety Agency Shifts Gears on Covid Plan for Health-Care Workers

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration terminated rulemaking aimed at slowing the spread of Covid-19 in hospitals and health clinics to broaden the agency’s focus on more infectious diseases, according to a notice published by the Labor Department Tuesday.

OSHA submitted in December 2022 the draft final Covid-19 rule for health-care settings to the White House Office of Management and Budget, where it remained until Tuesday. The agency has since developed a broader infectious diseases standard for healthcare workers that is currently pending review.
