Rules on Apprenticeship, Union Trust Reporting Set for Release

A pair of Labor Department final rules—one to establish a new apprenticeship model and another to increase union financial disclosure requirements—cleared White House regulatory office review, indicating the regulations will soon be released publicly.

The first regulation would implement the White House’s long-sought initiative to expand apprenticeships into high-growth sectors by creating a system in which oversight responsibilities would rest with industry groups, not the federal government. The second rule would create a new annual reporting form for unions to disclose financial information about their credit unions, strike funds, apprenticeship programs, and other types of trusts.
