White House Reviewing Rule to Expand Union Financial Oversight

A new rule requiring unions to disclose financial information about their credit unions, strike funds, apprenticeship programs, and other types of trusts is nearing public release, after being sent to the White House regulatory office.

The Labor Department transmitted the final version of the “trust annual reports” regulation to the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs on Jan. 31, according to a notice on OIRA’s website. Review by the White House typically marks the final stage before a rule can be issued.
