The Pittsburgh City Council can require businesses to give workers paid sick leave, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled July 17.
The ruling overturns lower court decisions that said the city’s ordinance violated the state’s Home Rule Charter law, which limits local authority to regulate businesses.
