NYU Staff Ratify Contract for Higher Wages, Job Security (1)

Non-tenure track professors overwhelmingly voted to approve a tentative agreement with New York University after a brief work-stoppage last month.

Faculty organized with Contract Faculty United-UAW voted 98% in favor of a tentative agreement that secured average wage increases of about 20%, the union said Wednesday. The contract also includes a fund for immigration expenses and job security protections.

The workers briefly walked off the job in March after failing to reach an agreement with the University on wages and housing benefits. CFU-UAW members teach about 25% of all classes across NYU, according to the university.
