NYU Professors Strike Over Housing Benefits, Working Conditions

Non-tenure track professors at New York University walked off the job Monday protesting their pay and seeking more control over their working conditions.

About 930 full-time professors affiliated with Contract Faculty United-UAW went on strike just minutes after the university presented an alternative offer, according to the union. The CFU-UAW didn’t have time to review the latest offer before the strike deadline, said Brendan Hogan, an NYU professor and union spokesperson.

The workers want more control over their workload, as well as housing benefits to offset the high cost of living in New York City.
