New York University Professors Reach Deal to End Two-Day Strike

Over 900 non-tenure track professors reached a tentative union contract with New York University, ending a brief work-stoppage that affected roughly half of NYU’s full-time faculty.

The Contract Faculty United-UAW said Wednesday that the bargaining committee secured an average first-year raise of approximately 20%. The CFU-UAW represents about 930 full-time faculty members who aren’t eligible for tenure. CFU-UAW members teach about 25% of all class across NYU, according to the university.

The faculty members briefly walked off the job March 23, asking for higher wages and housing benefits to offset the cost of living in New York City.
