Meta Ruling Gives US Citizens Path to Sue for Alleged H-1B Abuse

A recent federal appeals court ruling against Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. has the potential to open a new pathway for US citizens to sue over alleged preference for immigrant workers.

A divided three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit last week held that US citizens have standing to bring bias cases under Section 1981 of the 1866 Civil Rights Act, which bans race discrimination in the making and enforcement of contracts.
