Maryland HVAC Company Settles $210,000 Pay Discrimination Suit

Mechanical Design Systems Inc. will pay $210,000 and provide other relief to settle a pay discrimination lawsuit in federal district court in Maryland, the EEOC announced Tuesday.

The company allegedly paid female project managers significantly less than male counterparts to perform equal work, despite the female employees having seniority and more experience, the Equal Employment Office Commission said. The agency sued the Clinton, Md.-based HVAC company last September.

Such alleged conduct is in violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act.
