Largest U.S. Airlines Have Big Bargaining Year Ahead in 2020

American Airlines’ labor troubles are getting the most headlines, but all four of the top U.S. airlines will be bargaining with their unionized employees over new contracts in 2020.

American is bargaining with the Allied Pilots Association, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, and the TWU-IAM Association, which represents its mechanics. A federal judge earlier this year ordered the mechanics’ union to halt what the airline is calling an illegal work slowdown, while the pilots’ union isn’t happy with the pace of talks.
