Newsrooms Unionize as Challenges Mount

Traditional print newsrooms and digital-first outlets are gravitating towards a common solution to challenging times: unionization. Though the two news models face uncertain hurdles, many outlets already have unionized and many more are in the throes of contract negotiations.

Both models desire certainty in an industry that faces steep financial and political challenges to its well-being. Union representatives say that collective bargaining power can help. Paige Smith explores the issues.
