Hospital to Face Job Bias Suit Over Nurse’s High-Risk Pregnancy

A traveling nurse who says a Pennsylvania hospital refused to accommodate her high-risk pregnancy and fired her can pursue her discrimination lawsuit, including under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, a federal judge ruled.

Airelle Spry’s PWFA claims weren’t subject to dismissal even though the alleged failure to accommodate and discriminatory termination occurred in May 2023 and the new federal pregnancy fairness law took effect June 27, 2023, the US District Court Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said.
