Handy Technologies Inc. and California have agreed to settle a civil lawsuit over allegations the gig employer violated state law in classifying workers as independent contractors.
Handy was due on Tuesday to file its opening brief in its appeal of a trial court rejecting the company’s claims that Los Angeles and San Francisco district attorneys must arbitrate the lawsuit. The case accuses the New York-based company of misclassifying workers and failing to reimburse expenses.
The parties instead filed a stipulation Jan. 26 that they “reached an agreement regarding the amount of monetary relief for the People’s claims, including restitution.” ...
