Group Retirement Plan Filing Allowed Under Proposed Rules (1)

Three federal agencies are proposing changes to annual employee benefit reporting requirements that would allow groups of retirement plans to file consolidated disclosures.

The U.S. Department of Labor, Treasury Department, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation issued Tuesday a proposed rule that would add new Form 5500 schedules that groups of retirement plans could file—fulfilling a legislative drive to make plans available to a greater number of workers.

The Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration issued a separate proposed regulation Tuesday to permit certain plans to satisfy annual reporting requirements as groups.
