Full-time employees of grocery chain Food Lion will receive six weeks of paid parental leave starting Jan. 1, 2020.
Employees will need to have worked at least one continuous year to be eligible for the benefits. The leave can be used by associates of any gender within the first 12 months of a child’s birth, adoption, or other legal, custodial placements.
The company’s Sept. 11 announcement follows shortly after Hannaford Supermarkets in New England gave full- and part-time workers parental leave benefits on Sept. 1. Retailers across industries have made similar changes in the past two years, including
