New England Supermarket Chain to Offer Paid Parental Leave

Hannaford Supermarkets workers will get six weeks of fully paid leave starting Sept. 1 to care for a newborn or newly adopted child.

The new benefits, which also apply to workers who have a child legally placed with them, such as through fostering, will be available to qualifying full- and part-time employees of the grocery chain with stores across New England and New York. “All gender and gender identities are eligible to take advantage of the paid parental leave benefits,” the company noted in its Aug. 28 announcement.
