Eurofins Workers Get Early Approval of $1.7 Million Settlement

Hundreds of workers for Eurofins Scientific Inc. won preliminary approval of a $1.7 million settlement in a lawsuit over claims that Eurofins failed to pay overtime wages related to Covid-19 procedures and meal breaks.

Rito Lopez, a packer, brought the proposed class action in the US District Court for the Northern District of California in November 2021. He alleged Eurofins didn’t pay him and other workers for the time it took to complete temperature checks and Covid-19 questionnaires before clocking in, along with other violations of the California Private Attorneys General Act.
