Employers Hit Supplemental H-2B Visa Cap for Early Summer Hiring

March 31, 2023, 9:47 PM UTC

US Citizenship and Immigration Services received enough employer petitions to exhaust 16,500 supplemental H-2B visas for returning seasonal workers with start dates in the early part of the second half of the fiscal year, the agency announced Friday.

The visas are for jobs with start dates between April 1 and May 14, 2023. USCIS will accept petitions for employment with later start dates beginning April 13.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a temporary final rule last year issuing 65,000 discretionary H-2B visas for fiscal year 2023, doubling the typical amount available under a statutory cap.
