EEOC Unveils Final Rule on ‘Conciliating’ Bias Claims (1)

Employers will get more information from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission when they attempt to resolve workplace discrimination claims through the agency’s conciliation process, under a final rule posted on the EEOC’s website.

The commission forwarded the rule to the Federal Register, after the five-member leadership panel approved it last week, it announced on Monday. The measure—which drew praise from employer representatives seeking more transparency from the agency, and criticism from workers’ rights groups concerned over businesses potentially gaining an unfair advantage at the negotiating table—will be effective 30 days after its publication.
