EEOC, Equal Pay Backers Ask Judge to Close Pay Data Collection

An inaugural collection of race and gender pay data from U.S. businesses should be closed, after more than 89% of employers that must comply with the mandate have submitted that information to the federal government, the EEOC and equal pay advocates told a federal judge in Washington.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has repeatedly asked Judge Tanya S. Chutkan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to close the collection, which opened last July and was slated to end Jan. 31.
