DOL Watchdog Pick Urged to Withdraw Over Inconsistent Testimony

A senior Democratic senator called on the Trump administration’s Labor Department inspector general nominee to withdraw from consideration for appearing to mislead a Senate panel about an active political campaign committee.

Anthony D’Esposito, a former Republican congressman tapped for the DOL watchdog spot, received contributions to his campaign committee as recently as late September despite testifying Oct. 23 that he’s not accepting political donations, according to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.).
