DOL Seeks Uniformity, New Youth Model in Apprenticeship Proposal

The US Labor Department’s training administration wants to overhaul how it manages its registered apprenticeship system, changes that it says will result in higher quality skills training and expand job training programs to new industries.

The 779-page proposed rule from the Employment and Training Administration, released Thursday, would establish new accountability measures for participants in the system and include new protections for apprentices “against undue costs of participation and restrictions on their labor market mobility,” according to the draft text.
