Democratic AGs Defend DEI Against ‘Misleading’ Trump Directives

Many of the corporate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs under Trump administration scrutiny are legal and reduce workplace bias and harassment, Democratic state attorneys general said in a guidance document.

The AGs from 16 states—led by Andrea Joy Campbell (D) in Massachusetts and Kwame Raoul (D) in Illinois—issued the guidance Thursday in response to President Donald Trump’s executive orders threatening enforcement actions against DEI programs the administration deems illegal.

The federal orders don’t change existing anti-discrimination statutes such as Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act or states’ separate laws, Campbell and Raoul wrote.
