Amazon Drops DEI From Annual Report as Federal Scrutiny Looms

Amazon scrubbed references to “diversity and inclusion” and “equity” from its annual report, signaling to investors it’s aligning how it talks about diversity with its decision to halt some of its programs last month.

The e-commerce giant removed two diversity-related mentions from its 10-K issued Friday. Specifically Amazon dropped “we focus on investment and innovation, inclusion and diversity, and engagement to hire and develop the best talent,” as well as the phrase “promote equity.” Those were the only two diversity-related mentions in the company’s past two annual reports.
