Congressional Watchdog to Probe Labor Department Enforcement

The Government Accountability Office recently launched an investigation into the wage enforcement priorities of the Labor Department.

The move comes after calls from Democratic lawmakers to thoroughly examine the agency’s investigative procedures. It also follows several recent top leadership changes. Patrick Pizzella takes over as acting secretary this week, after Alexander Acosta on July 12 announced that he would resign. Cheryl Stanton assumed control of the department’s Wage and Hour Division in late April.
