Charter Worker Lands Class Status for Some Claims in Wage Case

A Charter Communications Inc. maintenance technician convinced a federal judge to allow him to pursue some of his wage claims against the company on behalf of a California worker class.

The worker demonstrated that his overarching class and three of five proposed subclasses meet the requirements for certification in his lawsuit against the cable company, the US District Court for the Southern District of California said. However, he lacks evidence that enough workers suffered alternative workweek or double time pay violations to justify class treatment for those claims, the Monday order said.
